Surrendering your Golden
Giving up your golden retriever is a tough decision. We'll be happy to help you explore other options such as doggie day care, pet sitters, obedience training, etc. If you opt to give up your Golden to Golden Rescue South Florida the following occurs:
You are interviewed by one of our volunteers to get basic information about your dog.
You are asked to sign an owner surrender form at the time we pick up your dog. This is a legal document that transfers ownership of the dog from you to Golden Rescue South Florida.
When you turn over the dog to Golden Rescue please provide medical records, medications your dog routinely takes and any information about your dog that will help the new owners make your dog feel more comfortable in their new home.
We ask for a donation, if possible, to cover our costs for rehoming (for example, if your dog needs medical attention, grooming or to be spayed or neutered)
We at the Rescue know how hard it is to give up your dog. So, we will be happy to stay in touch with you and tell you how your dog is doing. Often, the new forever families will send photos and progress reports to the original owners if desired.
