REUNION
2011
WNBC's
local station did a TV piece on the rescue the night before the
Reunion. Here is the link to view it.
What word can be used to
describe our 3rd annual GRSF Reunion? AMAZING is the first that pops
up. HEARTWARMING, is another. We had 104 dogs and 150 people attending!
The dogs had the best time! They ran free and played with every one and
everything. The obstacle course that is part of the dog park was a huge
success. Goldens are amazing. What other breed could run in numbers
like that and all get along!!
We are waiting for photos. If you have some please send them to Lisa @ rjlph@aol.com.....we
would love to get them up on the web site.
Some of the returnees were Stevie (now Precious) He was the blind dog who was a part of the May Day Goldens AND Justin, Stevie's son was there as well!. 4 of the 9 male puppies were there! Tommy and Heidi two deaf dogs were there. Heidi came with Largo, also adopted from GRSF. Natalie, the dog who came to us with over 1000 ticks was there with her "sister" Lucy who was one of the Christmas litter. Natalie looks so amazingly healthy and happy! Another Christmas (Cupid who is now Daisy) puppy was there, as well. For those of us who had a part in saving and adopting out these dogs...seeing them again, looking so happy, healthy and loved was truly an emotional experience! Lunch was served and we had AMAZING raffle prizes and silent auction items. Jamie Tracey, our amazing foster Mom was awarded the Dave Petrie Award for "service above and beyond belief!!!" We want to take a minute
to recognize all the volunteers that helped
put this day together....
In all of the thank you's...after the reunion...I forgot to thank Jeff and Sharon.... 2 VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE. Maybe, because there are no words that can really convey just how much work they do for the Rescue. They bought and hung all the canvas around the fences at the dog park. They were at the park @7:00 am and didn't leave until everything was cleaned up and finished. They are everywhere when help is needed...and most important they are always bringing their wonderful smiles....yes always! Not easy when Jeff was opening and closing the gate to the dog park ALL DAY and wrestling the herd!!! Check them out on the TV link mentioned above! THANK YOU BOTH...and forgive me please, for not saying all this before!!! Joe and Laura who made all the (gorgeous)signs. And who stayed in the dog park keeping harmony and picking up poop! Joe and Laura who adopted Buddy and Beau from us can always be counted on for any and everything! Linda
and Tricia who sat
with Lee Ann
at the registration desk and really never got to leave!!
Susan who every year donates the money to rent tables and chairs (it is getting more costly each year! )....MANY THANKS! She also was there from 7:00 am until the end and sold tons of Rescue hats! Jen and Jamie who also sold raffles. Dee, Anita and Lee Ann who spent HOURS making up the incredibly beautiful and well stuffed baskets. It was Dee who wrote hundreds of letters asking for donations for our silent auction. And boy did she get great ones!! Bob, the every where and everything guy who took care of pretty much every detail. Bill Davis who offers his musical talents to us...always gratis and has donated hundreds of dollars to us with his "tips" and of course with the sale of the CD he made, especially for us! He adds such a "party feeling" with his singing! Getting tired reading this? Hope not, because these people really deserve the recognition! If I have forgotten any one....Forgive me! Well, now we will wait for the final "count" and see how many vet bills we can pay! Many thanks to all who
attended and for your generosity!!!
Oh, one more thing...our founder and true leader, Carol, who has been dealing with some very serious health problems, got out of the hospital on Friday @ 5:30 pm managed to make it to the Reunion on Sat. We were all so glad she made it!!! ![]() ![]() Bob
